Prof. R.K. Shivpuri is Founder Director, Centre for Detector and Software Technology, University of Delhi and has been Chairperson, M.Tech. Committee on Nuclear Science and Technology, University of Delhi.  He has also been a Senior Advisor and Distinguished Professor at University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, Dehradun.  Recognizing the dire need of shortage of manpower in the country in the Nuclear Technology area, he launched an aggressive program to start such a course in the Country.  In the last ten years, he has been a moving force in starting the Nuclear Technology Courseat the M Tech level in several Universities such as University of Delhi,Mody University, Rajasthan and University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, Dehradun. He also arranged a Collaboration with France for students to do course work and internship for one year in French Nuclear laboratories. As a result of this program, more than 200 students have graduated as Nuclear Engineers who have mostly been selected in different labs of the Department of Atomic Energy, Govt.of India.

He has been Principal Investigator of several International Research Projects including Fermilab D-zero Collider Experiment, USA and Search for New Particles at the Large Hadron Collider, CERN, Geneva, Switzerland with total grants over Rs. 15 Crores. He has been associated with the two greatest discoveries of Particle Physics in last fifty years – Top Quark in 1995 and Higgs Boson (God Particle) in 2012. His research area is experimental High Energy Physics and Si detector Technology in Nuclear Interactions. His research work has been cited over 80,000 times in International journals.

He started the collaboration of University of Petroleum and Energy studies, Dehradun with several French Universities and of Mody University (Exclusively women’s University) with several Universities in France, Germany, Switzerland, USA etc. Consequently, several students from Mody University are regularly going to France, USA,Germany and Switzerland for internship.  Students from those countries have also started coming over to Mody University for internship.

During 1968-70, he worked as a post-doctoral fellow at State University of New York, Buffalo, USA.In 1971, he joined as Associate Professor of Physics at Clarkson University, New York, USA. He joined Department of Physics, University of Delhi as a faculty member in 1974. He founded the Centre for Detector and Software Technology, University of Delhi which has evolved among the top institution for research in High Energy Physics in the Country.

He has been a Visiting Scientist at Fermilab, Chicago, USA, where he worked in three major experiments for over 25 years. He has received research grants- afew million dollars from National Science Foundation, Washington, USA. He is the first Indian Scientist from any Indian University to start the Collaboration between Fermilab, USAand Indian Universities in the year 1985.This tie up allowed the Indian faculty and students to use the research facilities at the world’s highest energy Accelerator at that time- at Fermilab. During this time, he got a generous grant from National Science Foundation, Washington, USA.  He used the grant to train the Indian students and as a consequence, twenty students working under him got their Ph D’s due to work at Fermilab, USA. He has been a Visiting Scientist at Brookhaven National Laboratory, USA, Rochester University, University of Wisconsin, to name a few. Currently, he is a Visiting Scientist at European Centre for Nuclear Research (CERN), Geneva, Switzerland and he has been in this position for over two decades.

Prof. Vij has extensively published research papers in International and national Journals of repute and has presented papers globally in in the field of banking and finance. She has authored four books namely Multinational Financial Management, Management Accounting, Management of Financial Institutions and a book on Corporate Finance for NIIT for MBA participants for ITT, USA. She has also co-authored two books – one on ‘Merchant Banking and Financial Services’ and the second one on ‘Women’s Studies in India: A Journey of 25 Years.

Prof Vij serves as the Government Nominee, The Institute of Company Secretaries of India and is an Independent Director for three private limited companies. She has been a Non -Executive  Independent Director of MOIL Limited a Mini Ratna PSU from 25-06-2010 to 24-06-13.She has received the Alumni Excellence award from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi. Dr Vij has participated and attended the Global Colloquium on ‘Participant Centred Learning’ at Harvard Business School, Boston, USA. Prof Vij was on the Panel of Judges for award of PM’s trophy for selecting the best steel plant for 2 years (2011-2013) and has also been a member of Ad-Hoc Task Force, Results Framework Document (2011-2013).

Prof Vij has been the Director, Women’s Studies and Development Centre, University of Delhi for one year (June 2012 to July 2013) and is actively involved in working on Gender issues, has delivered special talks in this area and has also worked on a project on ‘Microfinance and Gender’. Dr. S.M. Mohamed Ismail served as Member of Parliament (National List), Sri Lanka (2018 – 2020), Chairman – Sri Lanka Handicraft Board (LAKSALA) (2015 – 2018) and former Vice Chancellor of SEUSL (2009 – 2015). Dr. Ahmed Anwar, EdD

The academic leader, Dr. Ahmed Anwar became Rector of Villa College on October 17, 2007.

Dr. Ahmed Anwar was born in a small island in Addu Atoll in the south of Maldives. He received Diploma in Primary Education and Management of Community Primary Schools from Moray College of Education Edinburgh which is currently the education faculty of the University of Edinburgh Scotland. He also received Advanced Diploma in Education from  University of Bristol, England. He holds Master of Education and earned a Doctorate in Education from Graduate School of Education, University of Bristol, England.

Dr. Ahmed Anwar is one of the most prominent figures in the field of education in the Maldives with more than 50 years of experience. He began his career as a teacher followed by various leadership positions in schools. He started his career

at the Ministry of Education of the Maldives at a time when Maldives has embarked the initiative by the UNESCO to universalize primary education provisions across the 200 or so inhabitant islands of the Maldives. After the successful administration of universal primary education, he then engage himself in expansion of secondary education to the outer islands of the Maldives as the Director General of School Systems of the Ministry of Education in the Maldives. Dr. Ahmed Anwar also played a key role in developing the higher education regulatory framework as the Director General and head of the Maldives Accreditation Board currently known as Maldives Qualification Authority.

After three years of service at the Maldives Qualification Authority, Dr. Ahmed Anwar left the public sector to establish Villa College, the first private higher education college in the Maldives. In 2007, Dr. Ahmed Anwar, then became the Rector of the Villa College, the leading higher education and research institute in the Maldives.

In 2011, he was appointed as the private higher education sector representative to the Higher Education Council by the Government of Maldives. He is also a founding member of Professional Association of Teachers of the Maldives and the Foundation for Social Development.

His dedication and contribution to the development of education was recognized by the Government of Maldives in 2011 with the National Award of Recognition for Outstanding Services in the Field of Education. In 2014, he was honored with the Meritorious Award in Educational Leadership and Management by Open University of Malaysia. Dr. Ahmed Anwar received an honorary PhD from Open University Malaysia – a university that promotes boundaryless education, in 2016. In recognition to his outstanding work Addu City Council of the Maldives presented Dr. Ahmed Anwar the Honorary Award of exceptional services to Addu City.

Dr. Ahmed Anwar is married to Ramla Hassan and is blessed with a son and two grandchildren.
